if The Crossing weren't such a poorly received story, would a-Force instead be called Force Works?
I don’t think so. A-FORCE has the Avengers connection baked right into the title and the logo, whereas FORCE WORKS could effectively be a wholly-separate series.
I think it’s important to note that The Crossing isn’t responsible for Force Works having a bad reputation. All The Crossing did was bring Force Works to a sudden end. Granted, if not for the final few issues of Force Works tying into The Crossing, it’s possible far fewer people would remember the series even existed. But either way, those who remember would largely dismiss it as a poor attempt to revamp the West Coast Avengers into a wannabe Wildstorm comic.
To me the only reason to revive the name would be to reunite characters like Century, Moonraker, Cybermancer, Dreamguard, Plato, Fisher Todd, and Amanda Chaney. But I can’t imagine there’d be much demand for this–it would just be an excuse to indulge in ‘90s nostalgia and dig around some forgotten old continuity.
