I don’t think that will happen, but I worry that she’ll get put on ice for half a decade, like a certain FOUNDING AVENGER who wasn’t even in the fucking movie.

So far I haven’t heard anything that makes me think they’re definitely killing anybody or that it would certainly be Songbird.  I wouldn’t worry about it until/unless it happens.  Besides, Fabian Nicieza killed off half the team in one year, and most of them were alive the following year.

I don’t think Songbird can be a “Woman in Refrigerator,” because I’m not seeing the part where her death motivates the angst of some more important male character.  There’s no Kyle Rayner to her Alex DeWitt—she’s been a bigger star than Abe or Fixer for over a decade.  I suppose a writer could kill her as a motivator for Luke Cage, but there’s more obvious ways to push his buttons (i.e., threatening his wife and kid).  Maybe her death could inspire Baron Zemo to start the Melissa Gold School for Juvenile Delinquents or something, but I’m not seeing it.

The cool thing about Thunderbolts, though, is that they totally could kill anybody, because none of them are needed in three other books and a summer crossover.  I don’t think they will kill Songbird, but she’s not safe.  She’ll probably never be safe unless they make a T-bolts movie or something.  That sense of danger adds a certain thrill to the book, even if it does make us panic now and then.
